Shell Deer Park Refinery  $98m (2014-Present)

Served as lead resource regarding schedule and change management for two turnarounds with 15,000 activities.

Prepared conceptual and detailed schedules for both refinery and chemical plant units.

Used my expert knowledge of project cost and scheduling techniques/principles and working knowledge of construction inspection techniques, project management techniques, configuration and change control processes, and contract administration principles to allow the project/turnaround to be completed to time, budget and safely.

Marathon Petroleum / BP, Texas City, TX Project Controls Specialist

Providing estimate and scheduling support for all of the Galveston Bay Refinery on both Turnarounds and Capital Projects. 

BP Texas City TAR Lead Estimator - .  Managed, implemented and controlled the overall estimating process from conception to completion whilst supporting a portfolio of 90 plus projects and TAR’s.  Managed a team of up to 8 estimators producing Appraise through Define estimates for TAR’s up to a value of $69m.  Also estimates for Change Management items during TAR’s.  Set up and established the TAR estimating methodology to company and AACE standards.  Carried out Cost Estimate Risk Reviews on all TAR and Project estimtes and worked to strategic KPI’s and deadlines

BP Texas City Refinery   Project Sunrise Fuel Gas Recovery   ($172m)

In charge of the Fuel Gas Recovery schedule.  On behalf of the client, worked with contractor and client engineering department to determine workscope then input into Primavera P6 including all resource allocations.  Liaised with contractor supervision to attain weekly updates.  Kept the client up to date with any issues.  Produced ‘what if’ scenarios for the client.  Integrated add on work into the schedule.

BP Texas City Refinery FCCU 3 Turnaround & Major Upgrade ($180m)

Initiated and agreed the validation of all pre shutdown/project issues e.g. costs, worklist contents, schedule, manning, safety, Quality and long term material deliveries, liaising with the client and Projects Manager.

Integrated 13 major projects into the main TAR schedule.  This culminated in a 16,000 activity schedule being produced.  Managed the most efficient and effective use of resource, time and costs in what was a 600,000 manhour effort with costs totaling $180m.  Co-ordinated and prioritized the daily activities of Client staff, support services, contractors and sub-contractors, across all disciplines; ensured the agreed targets of the shutdown/project were met.  Justified and negotiated the validation of extra/additional variation

orders to capture unforeseen costs, ensuring subsequent acceptance,

completion and sign-off stages were actioned.  Conducted post overhaul/project area debriefings, performance review and appraisals of client personnel, contractors and sub-contractors; recorded information on costs, safety records and working standards.

 

BP Acetyls A4/A5/DF2 Turnarounds   (BP Salt End – Hull)     $10m

(2002-05)

Project controls on behalf of the client on three of the BP Salt End sites major Turnarounds.

Duties included Turnaround Methodology Training to client and contractor personnel prior to and during the planning phase of the Turnaround.  Produced and estimated job packs in Maximo.  Produced cost, materials and manpower reports for budgets and manpower needs which were used by the client and contractors using Maximo software.

Scheduling of work packages into Primavera P3.  Updated, produced and issued daily progress.  Validated contractors extra/additional work for validation and acceptance during the Turnaround. 

Transco,  Samlesbury to Helmshore  (UK) 1050mm Gas Pipeline Project   $40m (2001)

Planned, scheduled, updated and produced reports for Transco to show progress and slippages in a multi contractor environment.  Managed the sub-contractors scheduling and updating. 

Investigation and claims dispute resolution on behalf of client in resolving compensation claims.

Transco National Transmission System (British Gas UK Wide)  $35m (2000)

Set up, devised, planned, scheduled, updated and produced reports on a UK wide telemetry project to update British Gas’s 1600 AGI sites from land lines to various other systems including satellite, radio signal, microwave and land lines.
